Paws off our tennis tournament Charlotte!
After months of “will they won’t they” - it’s officially official. the Western & Southern Open is staying in Cincinnati, where it belongs.
However, from now on it will go by another name…
As part of the deal to stay in Cincinnati, the long time sponsors Western & Southern Financial have said that this was very likely their last year as the namesake of the tournament.
This opens up space for a new sponsor, that is willing to pay more, to move in.
In addition to a new sponsor with bigger pockets, the tournament will also receive a $260 million expansion of the Lindner Family Tennis Center near Kings Island.
In case you didn’t know (because honestly, we didn’t) the (ex) Western & Southern Open is one of the world’s nine biggest tournaments where both men and women compete at the same time!
But this will change in 2025 when it expands from nine to 12 days with 96 players instead of the 56 now in its single-player draw.
That means more tennis in the Queen City
For now, all we have to say is… Charlotte…
🍄 Have you seen or visited the Mushroom house in Hyde Park?
