Our Favorite Valentine’s Day

I have a confession to make - I regularly forget about Valentine’s Day.

A few years ago I procrastinated so much that before I knew it, it was February 10th and I had no plan. In a panic, I called every restaurant I could think of to make a reservation.

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how that went.

“OK, maybe I’ll cook us a nice dinner. Who needs a restaurant anyway?” I thought as I started Googling recipes.

And that’s when I saw it…

A commercial for Papa John’s Valentine’s Day heart-shaped pizza.

Let me be clear, this is not an ad for Papa John’s, but it did play a key role in what Sarah to this day says was her favorite Valentine’s Day.

I packed an Ikea blue bag with a few blankets, plastic utensils, and paper plates, bought a bottle of wine and travel-friendly wine glasses, and then picked up a delicious pepperoni and banana pepper (our favorite) heart-shaped pizza.

We then drove to the top of Devou Park and sat in the trunk of our Jeep eating our pizza and admiring the Cincinnati skyline.

I don’t recommend waiting until the day of to make Valentine’s Day plans.

These days I have a calendar notification that goes off a few weeks before to make plans.

But that year, things worked out and Cincinnati was front and center for it.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Sarah and me!
